According to the first precept Buddhists refrain from killing living beings. Abortion is seen as killing. Vaccine ingredients- what are they? For thorough research please see avn.org.au. What we know is that some ingredients in the vaccines are produced and/or extracted from aborted fetus.
The abortion industry has become a massive economy these days. If a monk was to receive an offering of human flesh the monk is obliged to refuse it. What is the difference then with vaccines produced from aborted fetus?
This is a discussion that has not been openly and thoroughly discussed in the Sangha nor the Buddhist community generally.

It is important to bring this topic up. Should monks refuse (instead of refute it?) COVID vaccines. I think so.
